Rescue Bear’s iconic multi-coloured scarf is the first item of clothing he ever owned, it was made for him by his adopted human ‘Mum’ because she was worried that he might get a bit chilly in the winter. Being a bear of course RB doesn’t really get chilly being as he’s all covered in fur but he does like to look dapper so he was thrilled to have a fabulous bright scarf to wear. He gets so many compliments he thought he should share this little tutorial so you can make your own.

RB’s scarf is made from colour changing wool which means it made itself stripy all by itself pretty clever eh? It’s made in a stitch called seed stitch which makes it a little bit stretchy and it measures 4cm x 52cm but RB is a pretty small dude. For this tutorial RB decided that the best thing to do was to make a completely new scarf so that he could show you step by step. The scarf we’re going to show you measures 5.5cm x 48cm

What you’ll need
DK wool (RB used a grey self patterning wool)
A small amount of wool in a contrast colour (RB used mustard yellow)
Size 4mm needles
A 4mm crochet hook

Method
Cast on 9 stitches
Row 1 K1, P1 repeat to end
Repeat row 1 until scarf is or the length you want it to be.
Pretty simple eh! If you want to make the scarf narrower or wider just cast on more or less stitches but just make sure it’s an odd number.
Once you are happy with the length of your scarf cast off and sew in the loose ends.

Finally you need to decorate the scarf with tassels using the contrasting coloured wool.
Cut some strips of wool approximately 8cm long, fold them in half and attach them along the ends of the scarf by looping them through themselves using a crochet hook. RB used two lengths of wool together to make an extra thick tassel fringe.

And there you have it! Your very own fabulous scarf… RB style all you have to do now is go style it out your own way.

Iconic is the right word for this amazing multicoloured scarf. 🎨🧣🐻
