As RB prepares to resume his role as Theatre Mascot he would like to share some packing tips. RB is no stranger to travel and when he’s working in theatreland he gets to travel all over the country. He like to travel light and has become quite expert at it over the years (that and pretending to be an inanimate object to get through airport security of course). But packing to be away from home for long stretches needs more than just a capsule wardrobe, travel sized toiletries and multipurpose footwear. RB says that a few extras are absolutely essential to keep in your paw luggage which will keep you smiling even when you have too many sleeps to count before you get to go home again.

First of all, he recommends a photo or two of the people (or plushies) who you’ll miss the most. RB’s human Mum always takes a photo of his human Dad with them in a frame so she can put it on the bedside table wherever they go. Of course we all have loads of photos on our phones these days, but there is just something extra special about an actual photograph plus you can always see it even if your phone battery dies.

Secondly RB likes to have relaxing lighting when he’s putting his paws up in the evening after a long day at work. Unfortunately not everyone seems to understand mood lighting so RB has discovered it’s a good idea to bring your own! He bought these funky little LED lights online. They pack up really small and plug into a USB. Perfect for being on the road.

Thirdly RB likes to take some favourite cloths like tea towels or scarves away with him. You can use them to create a little home from home when you lay out your bits and bobs every week in a new room. It’s simple and packs down small but makes your room for the week instantly feel familiar and comfortable. RB’s current fave is this beautiful tea towel which his human grandparents brought back from Norway, it’s got polar bears on it. RB loves bears… obviously.

Those are handy tips from a true travel expert, RB. 😃👍 Thank you. 🙏🏻
